As a user, all I had to do was fill in the name field (I called myself ‘Robert on Jason Road’), and my email address (I used one that has not been used before at this site – and the email is not shown).
Here is some information that you might find interesting, but is not necessary to know to use this page. The site remembered me for this second reply by ‘Robert on Jason Road.’ I’ve left the block for a website blank; it is not a required field, and you can see that my name is not a link. Since this is a new email address, the site has created a recognizable and unique identicon for me. If I had an account with http://wordpress.com, AND I was logged in to that account, AND if I had a Gravitar, AND then came here, the site would recognize me and use my Gravitar instead of generating an identicon. Identicon and Gravitars are avatars that make it easier for visually-oriented people to recognize a contributer without having to read the name.

Not sure how this message board would function. I have tried to find a ride by leaving a message on the BowenLIFT site and promptly was called with an offer of a ride. I do not own a car and have become accustomed to walking or taking the bus. BowenLIFT is a great idea and I applaud you for starting this program. It will take some time for people to get into the habit of using this system and I will do my best to use and promote it.

We are not sure how it would function either. As you know we have this site as an experiment (it uses the remarkable WordPress themed called: P2)… but it was a chore to manage it every day. We also had neighbourhood boards that related to the ‘destination neighbourhoods’ that we’ve identified on this page: http://www.bowenlift.com/car-signs/. People didn’t seem to use it. And managing all those boards was going to be a chore too. We are thinking that we need to include trips to and from the mainland. I guess, before we design something, we should hear more about the need. So, thanks for your comment.

not much happening on this site i see..too bad..i’m a hitcher,no idea how to drive or the inclination..fewer folks driving is something to be appreciated on this planet..have noticed that few bowen cars are sporting your tags to let us know where they’re going…just no interest i suppose..used to be easy to get rides on the island and have noticed it being a bit more difficult..i applaud you folks for trying…i understand new folks being reluctant to stop being from the city and all and not understanding that this is a part of the culture on bowen…the newbies who have picked me up usually have a ton of questions for me so we end up with a good exchange and warmer hearts…anyhow, keep on trying…it is appreciated…
